As part of the UAE efforts to develop the region and provide it with basic and vital projects that touch the lives of the Socotri citizen, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation inaugurated yesterday the power plant in Sheikh Zayed City 1 in the Seteroh area for the first time.
The plant project consists of electric generators operating at a power of 200 kilowatts, a solar power plant with a capacity of 215 kilowatts, an electric wind network extending from the station to the city with a length of 3 km, and another network that feeds the water project with a length of one and a half kilometers.
Where the opening witnessed a large presence of the local authority represented by the first representative of the governorate, Raed Al-Juraibi, the Transitional Council, security and military leaders, members of the Development Committee, identifiers of residential centers, sheikhs, notables and a large gathering of citizens.
At the inauguration of the station, the Acting Head of the Socotra Transitional Council Command, Police General Director, Brigadier Ali Al-Diksmi, praised the efforts made by the brothers in the UAE in implementing this important and vital service project for Zayed City 1 and to find in general, which worked to meet the energy needs of the people of the region.
He pointed out that this project embodies the meanings of humanitarian giving that the UAE is making through its charitable arms, the Khalifa Foundation, to make the people of Stero and Socotra happy in general.
For his part, the Sheikh of Socotra sheikhs, Sheikh Suleiman Shalulha, said, “We are very happy today at the opening of the Madinat Zayed 1 electricity project in Stero, this vital project, which is of great importance to the region, which is one of the large cities with a population density that needs service and vital projects to serve its children.” He thanked the UAE for its support to complete the project in a record time and to provide energy to the region.
The Sheikh of Sheikh Zayed City 1, Sheikh Abdullah Selim described the opening of the electrical station as a qualitative leap for the people of the region, which is witnessing electricity for the first time thanks to the United Arab Emirates, which is the real bond for the people of Socotra, pointing out that the opening of the electrical station is of great importance to the people and has a positive impact on their lives from During the change that electricity will bring into their daily lives.
This station is the sixth of the stations established by the UAE on the island of Socotra and is working to operate it within the framework of its development and service support for the island’s residents, which included various vital sectors.
