The Qalansiyah and Abdul Kuri Directorates in Socotra Governorate, continued the operational work of the city’s solar power plant, with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
The entry of the renewable energy plant with a capacity of 500 kW into service constitutes a distinctive addition to the energy sector in the Directorate, which, along with the Sheikh Zayed 2 station for the Year of Tolerance, would contribute to covering the Directorate’s need for electricity, which is currently operating 24 hours a day.
The keenness of the UAE brothers in converting the island’s electric energy into alternative, environmentally friendly energy is of great importance and has a significant impact on the archipelago’s environment, and the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions that affect the ozone layer.
