During the next few days, the areas of Dexam in Socotra Governorate will witness the inauguration of a service project for the region with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
The water project, which is currently being prepared for its inauguration, is considered one of the most important service projects at the governorate level. It includes a water well that was dug in Wadi Sarhan, a 27-horsepower submersible, and 3 water tanks that were established in different places to distribute water to 20 villages suffering from water scarcity through a water network. It extends for thousands of meters.
Most of the areas of Dexam, which are located in the mountainous heights of Socotra in the past, depended on water through storing rainwater in ground tanks for use.
The Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has also made great efforts during the past years to alleviate the suffering of the people during the drought period by allocating tanks to transport water to the areas most in need, thus achieving social stability and restoring the smile of life on their face.
The identifier of the Dexam areas, Sheikh Yahya Badaba, explained that the project will work officially within a few days, after all it requires has been prepared, including drilling the well and installing the draft. The General Assembly of UAE Humanitarian Institutions in Socotra to end the suffering of the people of Dexam from the water and in light of the humanitarian interest it is doing to the areas of Dexam and the archipelago in general.
He pointed out that the Dexam areas suffer greatly from water scarcity, and the Khalifa Foundation has intervened to alleviate the suffering of its residents over the past years by running water tanks specific to the areas to bring clean water to various areas.
Citizen Othman Mohammed expressed his thanks to the Khalifa Foundation and its delegates for the completion of this project, which all the people of Dexam have been waiting for to end their suffering from the water scarcity they are facing, adding that everyone is happy today as they are witnessing the final touches to operate the project and deliver it to areas suffering from water.
