While countries around the world are competing to ensure their needs of COVID-19 vaccine to vaccinate people against the global pandemic (COVID-19), people of Socotra has received the vaccine easily without any cost or suffering.
The United Arab Emirates, through the Emirates Red Crescent, dedicated 60,000 vaccine doses for the people of the Socotra Archipelago. The first batch, which included 10,000 doses, was delivered and the vaccination process has started at Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital. Thereafter, the vaccine would be delivered to all homes across the Island.
Ahmed Khallaf, Director of Khalifa bin Zayed Hospital, asserted that the administration of the hospital would be ready to facilitate all hard matters for the concerned team to vaccinate the people of Socotra. He also asserted that the vaccine doses were about 10,000 doses, while the remaining quantity would arrive on the following ships including 50,000 doses approximately. He also highlighted that the medical team would conduct field visits to all areas and villages to provide the people with the vaccine. He highlighted that provision of vaccine was in line with concern of the United Arab Emirates with provision of integrated health care service to people of Socotra.
This step was largely welcomed by the people of Socotra, who expressed in turn their appreciation. Sheikh Saad Mubarak bin Saleh expressed his gratitude and appreciation to governors of the United Arab Emirates for affording all possible efforts to help other countries around the world during this pandemic. He also mentioned that he got vaccinated at Khalifa Hospital, and many people were coming to get vaccinated at the Hospital.
Mr. Saeed Mohamed Saleh highlighted that provision of COVID-19 vaccine, during this period of time, was considered as a great achievement, as the UAE delivered 60,000 vaccine doses to people of Socotra.
Mr. Mohamed expressed his gratitude to the UAE humanitarian medical and relief teams for the efforts reflecting the humanitarian and service role of the UAE in the Socotra Archipelago.
In turn, Salem Saleh Al Hamed, Director of Personnel at Khalifa Hospital, expressed his happiness for getting vaccinated, as such vaccine would contribute to limitation of spread of COVID-19 pandemic. He also asserted that it would be a great step to be added to record of efforts of the UAE to help people of Socotra.
