With support of Khalifa Foundation, Cleaning Fund in Socotra launched a wide cleaning campaign in different streets and markets of Socotra with a wide participation of Development Committee, local authorities, transitional council, security sector, military sector, and citizens. Different machines and transportation means were used to remove tens of tons of waste from streets and public areas.
During launch of this Campaign, in which Sultan Ali Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee; Brigadier-General Ahmed Saad Al Qadomi, Director of Police, attended, Senior Secretary of Socotra Governorate, Raid Al Jubairi, commended the great and continuous effort by Khalifa Foundation in support Socotra in different sectors including cleaning. He also expressed his happiness for this Campaign, which would help in removal of waste from different areas.
Raafat Al Theqali, Head of Southern Transitional Council, commended efforts of Khalifa Foundation in supporting such campaigns, which would help in maintaining health of people of Socotra and beauty of the Island. He also highlighted that these campaign is proactive prior to the depression.
In turn, Ahmed Saleh, Executive Officer of Cleaning Fund in Socotra, mentioned that this Campaign aimed at removing rubbish and waste from public streets, markets and alloys to revive beauty of Socotra and avoid spread of viruses.
It was worth noting that Khalifa Foundation used to support cleaning campaigns in Socotra and provide the Island with all necessities to maintain the Island clean.
