The United Arab Emirates, through its hand of charity, i.e. the Emirates Red Crescent and Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, paid a great attention to the advancement of education and the improvement of its outcomes within the framework of its humanitarian and development efforts in the Socotra Archipelago.

The UAE was able to establish the Ataya Model Primary School, Socotra International University, Socotra Institute for Training and Consultation, support the Socotra Community and Education Colleges, education offices and model schools, and provide uniforms, textbooks and transportation for high school students and rural schools.

The United Arab Emirates contracted with university graduates from Socotra and the Yemeni governorates and from the Arab Republic of Egypt to fill the shortage of educational staff in Socotra schools in conjunction with other educational projects and dispatch three batches of high school graduates from Socotra to study a bachelor’s course in the necessary disciplines for Socotra in the UAE and Egypt in addition to organizing strengthening lessons for high school students, sponsoring methodological and cultural competitions, scientific trips and ceremonies honoring the top students at the Community College and a number of schools.

The UAE support for the educational sector was praised and appreciated by the people of Socotra, led by the political and educational leaders, who confirmed that the efforts made by their Emirati brothers in the education sector represented one of the pages of Emirati giving that was recorded in the records of Socotra history in all aspects of life.
