Yesterday, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation operated an air bridge to Socotra Governorate to provide its food needs, after maritime navigation stopped from the island.

Yesterday, the plane emptied 25 tons of flour at Socotra International Airport, which has been lacking on the island for two weeks, after it had run out of the local market and the high level of consumers’ need.

The arrival of the UAE air bridge yesterday represented a glimmer of hope for the residents of the governorate to provide and secure their food requirements throughout the months of the current autumn, to be distributed today at various outlets to ensure that citizens from different regions and villages meet their needs.

The people of the island valued this humanitarian and fraternal gesture from the brothers in the UAE and their constant keenness to overcome all the difficulties they face, stressing that the arrival of the air bridge saved Socotra from a severe food crisis that has clearly begun to affect daily life.

The UAE food air bridge to Socotra created great public confidence in the availability of food without any fears, in addition to the willingness of the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation to continue operating air bridge flights to help provide the basic needs of the Socotra citizen.
