Yesterday, Socotra Archipelago University held a cultural and intellectual competition between the departments of the two faculties of information systems and computer science, and the faculty of administration and economics.
The competition, which is part of the university’s activities and initiatives, aimed to develop students’ creative and cultural abilities and encourage them to read and study in various fields and sciences.
The competition witnessed the spirit of competition and perseverance between male and female students in the four departments of the university, where the Information Systems Department won the first place with 10 points, two points ahead of the Business Administration Department, which won the second places with 8 points.
The Director of Student Affairs at the university, Dr. Ahmed El-Gouna, said that we are happy today at the university to launch our first student activities under the generous sponsorship of the university administration, pointing out that the questions of the competition include various fields to create competition between the four departments.
Dr. El-Gouna also indicated that the university would soon have community activities related to community service, such as participating in the cleaning campaign, visiting government facilities and other activities that give students extensive knowledge.
The Director of Educational Affairs, Dr. Sophia Al Kathiri confirmed that the university is keen to organize student activities to enhance their knowledge culture. Dr. Al Kathiri added that this competition contributes to helping students invent cultural information in general, and there are upcoming activities and events that will serve the student intellectually and cognitively.
The student, Hamed Omar Al-Hamid, majoring in Business Administration, said, “Thanks to God Almighty, the first cultural competition for all scientific disciplines was launched at the university under the auspices of the university administration.
The student, Saeed Abdul Rahman, majoring in information systems, expressed his happiness in participating in the competition, which gave them great knowledge and encouraged them to find scientifically creative students.
It is noteworthy that the University of Socotra Archipelago was officially inaugurated during the current academic year by the decision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, Technical Education and Vocational Training No. 5 for the year 2021, and it constitutes a strong addition to academic education in the archipelago and encourages its children to start university education.
