The people of the city of Qalansiyah, the second largest city in Socotra Governorate, confirmed that they are experiencing the peace of the holy month after the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation ended their previous suffering represented by the lack of safe drinking water that had exhausted them during the past years.
The accelerated efforts by the Khalifa Foundation contributed to solving the problem of the city’s residents and was keen to establish a desalination plant to provide healthy and pure water to all the city’s residents on a daily and continuous basis.
The people of Qalansiyah expressed their appreciate for the immortal stances of the brothers in the UAE towards the city and its people, and the efforts they are making to end one of the biggest problems they have suffered over the past years.
Socotra Online toured the city to get acquainted with the impressions of the people. The beginning was with Omar Mater, who expressed the happiness of the city’s residents with the establishment of the desalination plant, the continuous operation of the water project, the access of service to every house in the city, and the overcoming of previous difficulties.
Mater added that the month of Ramadan for this year brings peace of mind and peace of mind, unlike the previous year, when residents spend their day searching for water and buying tankers that cost them huge amounts of money.
He extended his thanks and appreciation to the UAE humanitarian institutions for this humanitarian initiative.
Citizen Mazen Saleh said that the station was operated to pump thousands of liters of healthy water produced by the desalination plant, pointing out that the station worked to solve the biggest problem of the people of Qalansiyah, who had to fetch water from the capital, Hadiboh, which is tens of kilometers away, at high costs.
Mubarak Khamis, the desalination plant worker, explained that the station operates around the clock by pumping, purifying and pumping water to the large tank at a rate of 280,000 liters, and then it is distributed to the city after the large tank is filled, which formed positive responses from the people, and Khamis confirmed that the water quality is high. Purity according to international quality standards and specifications.
It is noteworthy that the water desalination plant project was inaugurated in Qalansiyah district last month, as it is the first project of its kind in the district.
