Socotra Institute for Training and Consultation organized an introductory visit for its outstanding students to the Air Rescue Unit at Socotra International Airport yesterday.
During the visit, the students learned about the unit’s aircraft and the technical team, which in turn gave a detailed explanation of the tasks of the air rescue unit and its efforts in carrying out search and rescue operations for the missing, as well as in transporting the mobile medical team to a number of remote areas and helping to transport patients from remote villages to Sheikh Hospital Khalifa in the capital Hadiboh, in addition to carrying out several aerial spray campaigns against harmful insects.
During the visit, air reconnaissance tours were organized for students with Gyro planes around the capital, Hadiboh.
Mr. Abdul Rahman Al-Akhras, Deputy Director of the Socotra Institute for Training and Consultation, said that this visit comes in honor of the outstanding students and an incentive for them to continue in scientific excellence, acquire skills, and pay attention to qualification, especially in English and computer, which the center organizes on an ongoing basis.
He added that this activity was the first of its kind and a new beginning of continuous activities and encouraging trips for the students of the Institute.
The student Ali Ahmed Ali praised the efforts made by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in Socotra to implement development and humanitarian projects, including the air rescue unit, which carries out great and diverse tasks in search and rescue, transporting patients, delivering aid, spraying and other servants that benefit the Socotra citizen.
Student Abeer Abdullah said that the visit gave them knowledge and information about the tasks of the rescue unit, as well as introducing them to the types of existing aircraft that have many contributions to helping the people of Socotra and its affiliated islands. Adjacent to it via Gyro Airlines.
