Major General Salem Abdullah Al Socotri, the Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation and Fisheries, visited the Prime Fisheries Factory in the Socotra Governorate to see its fish activity.
During the visit, the Minister, his accompanying ministerial team, governorate agents, and the Director of the Fisheries Authority branch had a tour in the factory, and listened to an explanation by Eng. Ahmed Nasser, the Executive Director of the Factory, on the nature of the work being carried out with the latest technologies in accordance with international standards and specifications.
The Minister and the ministerial delegation were acquainted with the method of preparing, freezing and packaging fish in the new facility, which has a storage capacity of two thousand tons and a daily freezing capacity of fifty tons, in addition to a factory for canning and packaging fish with a production capacity of up to 1,000 cans per day, in addition to a special factory for grinding fish waste.
The Minister praised the role of Prime Factory in development and optimal investment in the fisheries sector, which greatly contributed to encouraging fishermen to raise the level of their production and help them overcome many of the difficulties they face.
He also appreciated the work done by the factory, which is one of the most important industrial factories in the fishery field in Yemen.
The Minister affirmed the Ministry’s readiness to provide all possible facilities to advance the fisheries sector in the Socotra Governorate.
