The Fifth Edition of Sheikh Zayed Festival in Socotra, which was held in Zayed City 1, continued to present all kinds of ancient Socotra heritage and present it in a beautiful manner by specialists and professions to consolidate it among the visiting audience.

Socotra Online was present and monitored the Socotra traditional industries presented by the festival, and recorded the participants’ impressions of the following transformation. Noah Daheq, who was famous for making Socotra knives and practiced this profession for years to decades before, said that the island relied mainly on knives made locally from iron pieces extracted from cars, and explained that the knife’s handle was decorated with sheep’s horn and the cover was made of sheep’s skins to put the knife in.

The participant/ Saad Salem restored the traditional image of the method of grinding grains previously, through the use of the millstone to grind all kinds of grains and turn them into flour used for food. The method previously adopted in Socotra for the production of all kinds of food.

Mr. Mohammed Saad, one of the visitors to the pottery industries pavilion, indicated that Sheikh Zayed Festival was able to revive the pottery industries that were used as household utensils for the Socotri house in the past, which had disappeared in light of the development of modern industries and people refrained from using them. He pointed out that the festival allowed us to see the authentic heritage of our previous lives through what you do. The women recreated some pottery in different shapes, adding that during my tour of the festival pavilions.
