The dialysis unit at Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital made great efforts during the year 2021 in providing high medical care for patients with kidney failure on the island.
This came within the interest of the United Arab Emirates and its keenness to raise the level of health and medical services provided to the residents of Socotra and that it is their suffering in this aspect.
An official source at the hospital explained that during the past year 2021, the unit provided 714 dialysis sessions for 17 patients.
He pointed out that the dialysis unit has achieved important achievements in the field of hemodialysis, as it provided its services to a number of patients under the supervision of a specialized medical team.
He added that the dialysis unit included high-precision and efficient devices, and regular treatment sessions in accordance with international medical standards.
The dialysis unit at Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Socotra was one of the pillars provided by the Khalifa Foundation to advance the health and medical sector in the governorate, as it helped end the suffering of patients in their transportation for treatment outside the island.
It was noteworthy that the dialysis unit was opened in 2018 for the first time in Socotra Governorate, after it was equipped with the latest medical equipment, as part of the development and expansion efforts witnessed by Khalifa Hospital.
