Faisal Al-Thalabi, the Acting Chairman of the General Authority for Environmental Protection, briefed on the activity of the model farms affiliated with the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation and their activity in the food insurance of the island.
During his visit with the farm supervisor, Engineer Iyad Ali Iballah, Al-Thalabi had a tour in the farm to get acquainted with its activities and efforts to advance the reality of the agricultural sector on the island.
During his visit to Al-Maaref and Green House farms, Al-Tha’labi stressed that the farms represent a unique experience and an educational school for all Socotra children on how to benefit from this experience and apply it in all nurseries on the island.
He pointed out that the farms are a new and pioneering experience, especially in the cultivation of seedlings of vegetables and fruits, as well as a permanent and sustainable crop.
Al-Thalabi, the head of the Environment Authority added that the farm is a modern model in the use of the drip irrigation network and sprinklers to grow agricultural crops, in addition to the possibility of planting in different seasons of the year in covered houses.
