The Air Rescue Unit at Khalifa Foundation implements a Campaign of Spraying with Pesticides on the Main Sources of Flying Insects and Mosquitoes that transmit Diseases in Socotra

The Air Rescue Unit at the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation carried out a wide campaign of spraying pesticides on stagnant water valleys and farms to eliminate harmful flying insects, especially disease-carrying mosquitoes.

The team used the air rescue unit in its campaign to reach the targeted places, which are the main sources of insects’ spread, and sprayed them with materials that resist pests and insects.

An official source in the rescue unit said that the campaign would continue for 15 consecutive days with morning and evening operations to ensure that the area is free of insects, pointing to the use of suitable materials for spraying that are not harmful to the environment permanently.

He added that after completion of spraying, the targeted areas would be inspected to ensure the effectiveness of the operation.

The source indicated that after spraying the places where insects spread in valleys, farms and trees, the most crowded places will be targeted.

The teams participating in the air and field campaign affirmed their full readiness to make maximum efforts to achieve the goal of the campaign and to eliminate flying insects, especially mosquitoes, as their main source, so that all residents can enjoy good health and the comfort of sitting and relaxing away from the danger of mosquitoes and their health impact on them.

The campaign came as awareness of Khalifa Foundation of the danger facing the island’s residents from the spread of dense mosquitoes in residential neighborhoods, which called for rapid intervention and action to save the lives of citizens from the danger of diseases, especially malaria.

The campaign was widely welcomed by the people because of its positive impact in reducing the severity of mosquitoes on the people of the island.
