The United Arab Emirates provided a new batch of vehicles for public security in Socotra in line with the continuous efforts to support security on the Island. The new vehicles are featured of being configured with modern security specifications and equipment to help police officers in performance of tasks efficiently.
During delivery celebration at the headquarters of Police, Sheikh Ali Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee at Khalifa Foundation; Brigadier-General Abdullah Ahmed, Commander of First Marine Brigadier; Brigadier-General Ali Omar Kafaien, Commander of Security Belt; and Colonel Mohamed Ahmed, Commander of Coast Battalion, presented.
Engineer Raafat Al Thaqli, Head of Transitional Council in Socotra, commended the generous support by the United Arab Emirates in Socotra to develop process of security on the Island.
He added that this new batch would have effective impact on improvement of security on the Island.
In turn, Colonel Mohamed Abdullah Hazoom, Director General of Police, highlighted that this support from the United Arab Emirates was not the first, as the United Arab Emirates used to provide Socotra Police with different kinds of vehicles in addition to qualification of security officers.
He also commended efforts of the United Arab Emirates in supporting security sector in Socotra.
It was worth noting that the United Arab Emirates supported people of Socotra in different fields such as education, health and judicial aspects.
