Khalifa Foundation concerns with and supports the handicrafts and ceramic items in Socotra in line with its concern with development of industries and handicrafts that would contribute to solving some economic problems and motivating the cultural and tourist movements in Socotra.
The revival of the industries and handicrafts was in line with the consideration of the cultural, economic and heritage aspects of these handicrafts. Nujed Festival, which was organized by Khalifa Foundation, presented the most important, common and oldest handicrafts on Socotra Island. The Festival proved that these industries and handicrafts were still spread across Socotra.
There is no doubt that the handicrafts are the most important tourist-attracting factor that may motivate the labor sector, especially in the villages and cities. Therefore, the Foundation works on using the handicrafts as a life matter, especially in the tourism sector.
The instructors of handicrafts believe that there is a need for focusing on the importance of the local and international exhibitions.
In addition, the instructors believe that the most important issues in the handicrafts are designs, roads, artistic cooperation, and skills development.
