The Sultan Ali Issa bin Afrar Festival, the poet who won first place in the Socotra Poet (Tanotr) competition for the children’s category, crowned the competition for the year 2021.
Raafat Al-Thaqali, the Head of the Transitional Council; Raed Al-Juraibi, the Senior Representative of the Governorate; and Sultan Ali bin Issa bin Afrar handed over the honoring medal and financial prize to the poet of the year 2021 in the children’s category Asem Yahya Badba, Bayrak.
The winning poet, Asem Yahya Badbeh, expressed his happiness for winning the Poet of Socotra for the children’s category after a great competition with the poets of the competition who presented distinguished poems. The poet politely noted the support of the Khalifa Foundation and the interest of its general representative in reviving and preserving the cultural heritage of the island, giving children an opportunity to show their poetic talents and encouraging them to preserve their language.
For his part, the father of the winning poet Asem Yahya Badbeh touched on the efforts and support provided by the United Arab Emirates, represented by the Khalifa Foundation, for its humanitarian and development work and its organization of many events that highlight the human heritage, including the Socotra poet competition for children, which was won by Asem, who cares With poetry from the softness of his nails, he organizes poems in the Socotri language.
At the closing ceremony, the organizing committee honored the competition’s jury and the poets participating in the closing day, the poet Ahmed Abdullah Al-Rajdi, who won the second place, the poet Saeed Abdullah Batmahi in the third place, and the poet Muhammad Noah Hajji in the fourth place.
The competition achieved a large public follow-up and attracted everyone’s attention because of its importance in encouraging children to learn Socotri poetry and to pay attention to their authentic heritage.
