Yesterday, Tuesday June 01, 2021, in the headquarters of the First Marine Brigadier in Muri, the wide consultative meeting of political, military and security leaders in addition to sheikhs and public figures of Socotra was held to address all rumors in media and news websites in relation with situation and role of the United Arab Emirates in Socotra.
Engineer Raafat Ali Ibrahim Al Theqali, Head of the Transitional Council in Socotra, mentioned that it was too bad to find news websites and media transmitting improper news instead of the truth. He mentioned that the UAE military base in Socotra as alleged Muslim Brotherhood channels was just a location for storage of relief assistance materials and another for rescue helicopters.
Sultan Ali Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee in Socotra, asserted that Socotra has overcome hard times, and would not stop acting, as the political, security and military leaders in addition to sheikhs and public figures were loyal, and would not allow messing with security and stability in Socotra.
Abdullah Moqbel mentioned that this gathering was intended to make sure of demonstrating the truth and denying all rumors that were common in all media channels.
Mr. Saad Osman highlighted that Socotra was an island and most of its people were fishermen, even needs and essentials were transported through the sea. Due to bad weather, sometimes people could not get their needs. Thanks to the UAE helicopter, people could receive their needs and rescue number of the lost in the sea.
Mubarak Ali Qablan, Head of the Executive Body of the General Council of Mohra and Socotra, highlighted that it was necessary to thank people and sheikhs of the UAE and deny all rumors about the UAE military base in Socotra, as such rumors intended to destructing Socotra.
Saeed Salem Ali highlighted that the United Arab Emirates has been the main supporter to people of Socotra in all fields and at all times.
