The Development Committee at Khalifa Foundation in Socotra organized an expanded workshop to show development, services, humanitarian, and relief efforts afforded by the United Arab Emirates for the people of Socotra during the last three years.
Upon opening the workshop, Raafat Ali Al Thaqali, Head of Transitional Council in the Governorate, commended the great effort of the United Arab Emirates through its hand of charity and humanitarian activities, Khalifa Foundation and Emirates Red Crescent. He also highlighted that the people of Socotra did appreciate the great support and fraternity assistance.
He also asserted to sheikhs and leaders the importance of coordination and cooperation for the favor of Socotra.
In addition, Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee, mentioned that holding this workshop aimed at getting everybody acquainted with projects and efforts during the last period in addition to recognition of the volume of the following plans of Khalifa Foundation for the sake of development of Socotra.
The workshop, in which Lieutenant Colonel Abdullah Ahmed Al Socotri, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmed Saad Al Qadomi, and Sheikh Suliman Shalolah, in addition to identifiers, sheikhs and leaders of Socotra presented, that the vital services and relief projects that have been implemented by Khalifa Foundation since 2016, have contributed to achievement of stability of life on the Island.
Mohamed Al Masri expressed his appreciation and thanks to Khalifa Foundation for the outstanding effort in education, which contributed to stability of education across the Island. That was through contracting with teachers, distributing the school book, maintaining schools, and providing tables and chairs.
He also expressed his appreciation for the outstanding effort in social affairs by helping the poor and patients.
In respect of health, Dr. Ahmed Khalaf, Manager of Khalifa Hospital in Hadiboh, mentioned that the hospital during the past two years provided 700 thousand medical services, and it has witnessed a developmental phases including opening of different sections and clinics.
Salem Mohamed Salem reviewed projects carried out in Socotra International Airport with generous support by Khalifa Foundation, which contributed to improvement of status of airport after providing with modern equipment.
Engineer Ahmed Hassan presented the works implemented by the Emirates Red Crescent in relation with construction of residential cities and service attachments.
Mohamed Anani, Executive Director of Dexam Company, highlighted that the works of the company with support of Khalifa Foundation helped in improvement of electricity in cities of the Socotra Archipelago.
Mohamed Sultan, Manager of Prime Fish Factory, mentioned that there have been many job opportunities since establishment in 2016.
Captain Ismail Al Junaibi, Sport Official at Khalifa Foundation, mentioned that sport has been under concern by Khalifa Foundation, which organized tens of championships and competitions with participation of hundreds of sportsmen.
Agriculture Engineer Mohamed Hamed highlighted that the agriculture sector in Socotra has witnessed an effective role in food security and provision of vegetables.
Ahmed Al Zahmi, Official of Civil Defense, highlighted that the firefighting station and the training center at Socotra International Airport recruited and qualified people for firefighting and preparation for any emergency.
Dr. Nadim Al Azibi, Dean of Community College, highlighted that Khalifa Foundation has provided the college with various support, which contributed to stability of education process in the college. He also presented a brief on Socotra University, which would represent a significant element in qualification of people of Socotra instead of travelling abroad for studying.
