The Emirates Red Crescent announced starting registration for the third collective wedding organized by support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces, in Socotra.
The registration committee announced opening the registration and announced the requirements as follow:
- Above the legal age for marriage (18 years old) and 35 years old maximum
- Only one family member can register
- Single, and never participated in a previous collective wedding
- Citizen and resident of Socotra
- Marriage contract should be entered after announcing the final list of brides and grooms
Furthermore, the committee announced that the people who wish to register should go to the council of sheikhs in Socotra and bring the following documents:
- ID (original and copy) showing the age of groom and bride
- Number of social affairs form
- Confirmation of district sheikh that the groom has never married before
- The groom should come in person
It was worth noting that the Emirates Red Crescent, and under supervision of His Excellency Khalfan Al Mazrouei, Representative of Khalifa Foundation, held two collective weddings during the past two years, from which about 800 young men and women in Socotra benefited.
This initiative, which was held every year in different Governorates in Yemen, aimed at helping young men and women in affording the cost of marriage within these conditions.
