With presence of the local authority in Socotra, Socotra University opened its gates for admission and registration of students for the first academic year 2021/ 2022 with support of Khalifa Foundation.
Socotra University opened 4 departments for registration (Business Administration –Business Economy –Information Systems –Information Technology). Socotra University obtained License no. (5) of 2021 from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Technical and Vocational Education.
During launch of registration, Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, Head of Development Committee; Raid Al Juraibi, Senior Governor Deputy in Socotra; Brigadier Saleh Ali, Governor Deputy; and Rafat Theqali, Head of Transitional Council, attended with companionship of sheikhs and leaders of the people of Socotra. Raid Al Juraibi asserted that opening Socotra University would be considered as a great achievement to people of Socotra, which would be added to achievements of UAE in Socotra.
He added that establishment of this university would help in eliminating the suffer from travelling abroad during the last decades.
He also commended the generous role of Khalifa Foundation in Socotra in establishment of the university, and effort of the team of Khalifa Foundation in completing all necessary documents for the sake of obtaining the official license from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research, and Technical and Vocational Education.
Rafat Al Theqali expressed his happiness for opening Socotra University that would contribute to ending the suffer from travelling abroad for university education. He also commended the great effort by Khalifa Foundation.
