Today, in Socotra, the sixth edition of Sheikh Zayed Football Championship for Socotra Clubs, organized by the Football Association Office, with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, was held in Socotra.
The draw, which took place in the presence of Ahmed Hazoum, Head of the Football Association Office; Saleh Ali Mohsen, the Secretary-General; and members of the Office in addition to heads of sports clubs in the governorate, resulted in dividing the 18 clubs into 4 groups according to their levels in the previous tournament as follows:
First group plays Al-Hilal, Al-Sharq, Al-Nasr, Al-Ittihad, Al-Wasl
Second group included Radfan, Al-Jazira, Al-Najm Al-Sahili, Al-Jamhour
Third group, Al-Talia, Nujed, Al-Majd, Al-Sadd
Fourth group, Al-Mina Al-Ahly, Dam Al Akwen, Al-Ain, Al-Wahda
Ahmed Hazoum, Head of the General Football Association Office, confirmed that the tournament will start on the 21st of this month at Rabdan Sports and Cultural Stadium in Sheikh Zayed City 1 Seteroh, and will last for nearly two months.
Hazoum indicated that in the coming days, the clubs’ participation would be prepared by handing them sports allowances and supplies, as well as operational budgets that would contribute to raising the pace of readiness of the clubs, with the support of the Khalifa Foundation.
He valued the packages of attention paid by the General Delegate of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in the Archipelago, His Excellency Khalfan Al Mazrouei, to the youth and youth sector, and his keenness to advance its reality for the better, including the recent construction of the Rabdan Sports and Cultural Stadium.
Al-Majd Club President Ali Muhammad Salem said that today we were pleased to hold the draw for the sixth edition of Sheikh Zayed Football Championship, in which the competition was always strong and distinguished between clubs and has a good impact in refining the capabilities of young people and developing their sports talents. Salem valued the continuous support provided by the Khalifa Foundation for the sports sector in the island.
The Association and Clubs Administration expressed its deep thanks and appreciation for the efforts of the brothers in the UAE for their continuous support for sports activity and for raising the level of the governorate’s sports infrastructure, through the establishment of Rabdan Sports Stadium, whose construction achieved great satisfaction in sports circles.
The meeting of the Association and the Clubs discussed a number of issues related to the organization of the tournament and ways to make it successful.
