Poets from Socotra left to participate in the Million’s Poet competition in the United Arab Emirates.
Where the participation of the poet Ahmed Noah Al-Shakhmy and Ghanem Salem Muallem for the first time from Socotra comes in light of the interest and encouragement that the UAE provides to the talented people of Socotra in various fields as part of its humanitarian, development and cultural activities on the island in particular and Yemen in general.
The poets were chosen to participate in the competition in the capital, Abu Dhabi, after they successfully passed the interview of the committee, which received a large number of Al Jazeera poets, in coordination with the Socotra Ministry of Culture office.
On their departure from Socotra International Airport, the poets expressed their thanks and gratitude to the UAE and its rulers for the support and interest they provide to talented people, and for providing an opportunity for them to highlight their cultural and creative abilities.
Noting that their participation in the Million Poet competition is a dream realized for them by the United Arab Emirates, which represents the main support and aid for Socotra and its people, and the island’s window to the outside world, development and cultural advancement.
They mention the capital, Abu Dhabi, which hosts this event every year with the support of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, where the Million Poet has received a wide public following in the Arab world since the start of the first season in 2007.
