A number of leaders of the local authority and the local community in Socotra Governorate praised the efforts made by the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation in supporting the prices of basic foodstuffs in the governorate, which in turn contributed to alleviating the suffering of the people in obtaining their requirements of commodities at the lowest prices and at a rate of more than 30% of its value in the local market.
During the inauguration of the fourth phase of subsidized food distributions, the leaders emphasized that such actions have a direct impact on the standard of living of Socotra families and contributed to their stability.
In this regard, we review the monitoring of the impressions of leaders and citizens on the launch of the fourth phase of subsidized food distributions, and the beginning was with the head of the local leadership of the Transitional Council, Raafat Al-Thaqali, who said that we are launching today a new phase of providing basic foodstuffs in the capital, Hadiboh, at a reduced price of more than 30% from the local market and the same materials will be provided to the various centers of Socotra. All thanks to the Khalifa Foundation for its continuous efforts to stabilize the situation on the island, including the living situation.
For his part, Raed Al-Juraibi, Senior Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate, indicated that we are happy today to launch the fourth phase of price reductions on basic materials with the support of the brothers in the UAE, which witnessed a great turnout from citizens in the previous stages.
He pointed out that the reduction rate was satisfactory to all, which amounted to more than 30%, and according to the statements of specialists, the available quantities cover the autumn season.
Salem Daheq Ali, Member of the Development Committee, said, “Today, we are delighted in the Development Committee, with the participation of the local authority, the leadership of the Transitional Council and the General Council, in the inauguration of the fourth phase of subsidized foodstuffs at a price lower than the local market in which these materials are sold.”
He pointed out that these materials are supported by the United Arab Emirates, so thanks to the Khalifa Foundation for this aid and the humanitarian gesture enjoyed by the people of Socotra, and added that in the past years, we have been suffering from food depletion from the markets in the autumn period and their availability today in various sales centers means that the insurance has been secured The needs of the people throughout the windy season, at lower prices than in the local market.
Brigadier General/ Ali Muhammad Al-Dexami, Director General of Police, said that it is a pleasure to participate today in the implementation of a new phase of price-subsidized food distributions from the Khalifa Foundation, which comes as an extension of the generous giving offered by the UAE to the people of Socotra in various aspects of life.
Brigadier General Al-Dexami pointed out that the previous phases proved successful and achieved the main goal of helping families in light of the high prices of food commodities in the local market, in addition to the expansion of points of sale, which has an effective impact on citizens getting what they need at the lowest costs without the trouble of reaching Hadiboh.
The Chairman of the Executive Board of the General Council of the Sons of Socotra and Al-Mahra, Sheikh Mubarak Qabalan, praised the efforts and continuous support of the Khalifa Foundation in implementing projects for the sale of basic materials, which amount to more than 30% and are commensurate with the level of income of Socotra families in light of the high value of food commodities witnessed in the markets.
The Director of Qalansiyah Police Department and Major Abdul-Kuri Imad Al Kathiri expressed his thanks and appreciation to the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for this renewed and important humanitarian initiative for the people of Socotra.
He stressed that the reduction rate of up to 30% on the local market is a large percentage and is very satisfactory for all.
While social activist Ali Saad said that the launch of the fourth phase of selling basic foodstuffs subsidized by the Khalifa Foundation worked to a large extent to help Socotri families obtain their requirements at the lowest cost, and this humanitarian initiative is one of the most important initiatives and projects because it is linked to the livelihood of citizens and stood by them in these circumstances.
The social figure, Muhammad Saeed Suleiman, said that everyone today is happy and pleased with the continued sale of subsidized foodstuffs from the Khalifa Foundation, in which the reduction rate exceeded 30% in most of the items.
Suleiman praised all the steps and support provided by the Khalifa bin Zayed Foundation to the Socotri people, which included all service areas.
The leadership of the Foundation was keen to open separate sales centers on the island to ensure that citizens receive their needs with ease and on a permanent basis, and the subsidized materials included (rice, sugar, flour, oil), and the number of distributed centers reached 6 centers, including 5 in Hadiboh district and one in Qalansiyah district.
It is worth noting that the distributions were officially launched as a first phase on November 30 of last year in the presence of the leadership of the local authority, the Transitional Council, sheikhs, dignitaries and social figures, in response to the calls of the people on the island, and the first phase continued to February of this year to start in the middle of the second phase and then the third phase coming to the fourth stage today.
