During the following weeks, Socotra Island is getting ready for a significant social event; third collective wedding 2019. The Emirates Red Crescent opened the registration for the third collective wedding early for the people of Socotra, and many registered for the collective wedding, which will be held with support of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, Crown Prince of Emirate of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme of the United Arab Emirates Armed Forces. This collective wedding is not the first in Socotra, since the Emirates Red Crescent held another two collective weddings in Socotra, which largely welcomed and appreciated by the people of the Governorate.
The first two weddings included about 450 young men and women, who started their own families after overcoming challenges with support of the United Arab Emirates.
It was worth noting that 200 families in Socotra benefited from the first wedding, which was under supervision of the Emirates Red Crescent. The second wedding was in April 2018 and 250 brides and grooms benefited from it.
Socotra Online met group of brides and grooms who expressed their happiness and joy for such support. Ali Mohamed Abdullah Salem, groom from Socotra, said that he registered for the second wedding when the registration started for the second collective wedding, and he said that he was very happy and expressed his thanks to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and the Emirates Red Crescent for their support.
Mohamed Said Mosalam said that he was not lucky to be one of the grooms in the second collective wedding, and he was waiting for the registration for the third one. He added that he would be ready to start his own family contributing to the promotion of Socotra.
