As part of its continuous development and service efforts in Socotra Governorate, the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation inaugurated the new expansion of the Sheikh Zayed Electricity Project 5 in the West Coast regions.
The new expansion included the introduction of electric current in Sheikh Zayed neighborhood in the western coastal strip for the first time, and work is still underway to introduce other areas located in the coastal range to meet the people’s need to serve electricity, which is one of the basic and important services in human life.
At the opening of the expansion, the Acting Head of the Local Command of the Socotra Transitional Council, Director General of Police, Brigadier General Ali Muhammad Al-Dexami, said they are happy today to inaugurate the new expansion of the Sheikh Zayed Station 5 project for the Year of Tolerance, which includes the coastal strip areas from the northwestern side of the island. Pointing out that the new expansion today worked on lighting the Sheikh Zayed neighborhood for the first time, as several areas and villages were lit in the previous stages of the project.
Brigadier General Al-Dexami praised the efforts of the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for its continuous support and implementation of service projects that meet the needs of the Socotra citizen of basic services.
For his part, Raed Al-Juraibi, Senior Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate, confirmed that what was inaugurated today is a new achievement in the development and service achievements that the UAE provides to the Socotra Governorate, and it is a dream for the people of Sheikh Zayed neighborhood who have waited for many years.
Al-Juraibi praised all the humanitarian efforts made by the UAE, represented by the Khalifa Foundation.
Salem Daheq Ali, Vice Chairman of the Development Committee, touched on the importance of the new expansion of the West Coast Electricity Project in delivering electricity to the Sheikh Zayed neighborhood, which needs this service for years due to the population density that characterizes the neighborhood. Everyone added today, with happiness and joy, the delivery of electricity, which will continue in the process of expansion to include the rest of the areas along the coast.
Sheikh Suleiman Shalulha, the Sheikh of Socotra sheikhs, indicated that we are pleased with the participation of the people of Sheikh Zayed neighborhood in opening the electrical current service to the neighborhood, which comes within the efforts of the Khalifa Foundation and its keenness to introduce the service to all coastal areas.
Sheikh Shalulha valued the efforts, giving and loyalty of the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation in implementing giant service projects for the island in various fields.
The opening was attended by the Staff of the 1st Brigade, Marine Corps, Brigadier General Mohsen Al-Hajj, members of the Development Committee, identifiers of centers, sheikhs, dignitaries and a large number of citizens.
