The Sheikh Zayed Festival, which was held with the support of the Khalifa Foundation in the city of Sheikh Zayed 1, southwest of Socotra, continued to offer a number of various shows, as it resumed after the Eid Al-Adha holiday.
The festival presented a variety of activities and performances through the participation of artistic folk bands with dances that the audience interacted with, or various performances embodied in the fishermen’s pavilion and the women’s pavilion, displaying the authentic Socotra costume and mass competitions through which cash prizes were offered.
The attendees, men, women and children, expressed their overwhelming happiness at attending the festival, which embodied the reality of their heritage and the past of their ancient ancestors, extending their sincere thanks to Khalifa Foundation, which was keen to revive the original Socotra heritage in its various artistic, musical and craft colors, and its various customs and traditions, based on its interest in supporting the archipelago in various fields of life, especially Its focus is on encouraging professionals, craftsmen, poets and everyone who can translate Socotra customs in their best forms to participate in the festival to instill the importance of heritage among generations.
Khamis Saad, a member of the Souk Artistic Troupe, expressed his happiness with this festival, which gave them the opportunity to participate in their folk bands and showcase the most important dances that characterize the market teams that had previously participated in many festivals adopted by the UAE, whether in Socotra or in the UAE. He also expressed his thanks and appreciation to Khalifa Foundation for her adoption of this festival.
Sheikh Ali bin Haruhin stated that he arrived at the festival to participate in it, confirming his participation in the audience questions competition, which offers cash prizes.
