As part of the shows presented by the weekly events of the Sheikh Zayed Festival, the authentic and ancient Socotri clothing, which was worn by men, women and children in the past, was shown.
These wonderful Socotra performances came from the premise that many peoples and many countries in the whole world still adhere to their heritage, inheritance and customs, especially in food, clothing, folk arts and everything related to the land.
The Socotra clothing show, which was embodied in its display of buds and children on the stage of competitions and shows, was a great public turnout and unparalleled interest from visitors to the festival, who enjoy men’s clothing, which contained a white cloth that wraps from the neck and exposes the abdomen and back and was covered from below the waist to the heels on the feet with the Socotra knives, which Socotra considered as a symbol of manhood.
As for the Socotra women’s dress shows, they were presented by the women’s tent and the theater, where the young nymphs of Socotra presented the old clothes, which contained a large piece of cloth that was wrapped on the woman’s body and tied with a belt at the waist.
The authentic Socotri clothing displayed in the festival’s activities that aimed to familiarize visitors with it and pass it on to future generations as an important part linked to the heritage of man and the Socotri land of history and glories.
