Any visitor to Socotra would notice the huge improvement in Socotra International Airport. Visitors get impressed upon comparing the current airport with the same airport years ago, as it would be considered as the main passage for people of the Socotra Archipelago linking them with the external world.
Teams of support of the United Arab Emirates worked over years to fully improve the airport after being affected by the hurricanes that hit Socotra through construction of arrival and terminal halls in addition to VIP hall as well as providing inspection equipment, desks and solar-powered lighting for the runway.
Khalifa Foundation worked on providing monitoring towers in Socotra International Airport with the most updated devices in the field of international aviation in addition to training firefighters on handling disasters.
These UAE developmental projects were largely welcomed by people of Socotra, as they caused remarkable improvement in Socotra International Airport.
