Yesterday evening in Socotra Governorate, the Socotra Seven-side Football Tournament and the Volleyball Tournament, organized by the Football Federation Office in Socotra with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, were concluded.
Radfan FC won the Seven-side Football Tournament after its victory over Al-Ahly FC 3/4 on penalties, after they tied 1-1 in the original time of the match. Meanwhile, Al-Jazeera Club won the Archipelago Ramadan Volleyball Tournament after passing Al-Minaa by two rounds.
At the coronation ceremony, which was attended by both Brigadier General Corner Saleh Ali and Sheikh Ahmed Saeed bin Hammad, the Deputy Governor; and Raafat Al-Thaqali, the head of the local leadership of the Transitional Council in the governorate, it was stressed on the importance of holding the two tournaments for their active role in motivating the youth, preserving them and raising their sports capabilities.
Al-Thaqali praised the distinguished success of the tournaments and efforts of those in charge of the Federation and the support of the Khalifa Foundation.
Al-Thaqali congratulated Radfan Club for winning the Seven-side Football Tournament, Al-Ahly runner-up, Al-Jazeera club for winning the Volleyball Tournament and Al-Mina runner-up.
The head of the Federation branch, Ahmed Hazoum, welcomed all the attendees at the beginning of the coronation ceremony of the two championships’ champions.. Pointing out that the tournament lasted for 20 days and was one of the best equipped and organized tournaments. This, thanks to God, has been supported by our brothers in the UAE who are making their efforts to develop and develop the sports sector.
Hazoum congratulated the winning clubs for their victory, wishing the clubs that were not lucky in these two championships success in the coming times.
To that, Al-Thaqali, Saad, Bin Hammad and Hazouum of Radfan Club were honored with gold medals, Socotra Football Championship Cup for Sevens, Al-Ahly Club with silver medals and a runner-up Cup. Al-Jazira Club was honored with gold medals, Archipelago Volleyball Championship Cup and Al-Mina Club with silver medals and a runner-up cup. The referees of the two meetings were also honored.
On the sidelines of the final of the two tournaments, a competition for the best commentator in football and volleyball was held with the aim of discovering talents and encouraging them to engage in this aspect. Three contestants participated in the competition to comment on the football match and two contestants in the game of volleyball. During the two matches, they presented distinguished voices that added splendor during the final competition, during which Ahmed Abdullah bin Majid won first place in football, and Omar Muhammad Omar ranked second, and in volleyball, the contestant Ahmed Mohammed Al-Harazi won first place, and Saleh Shayef Jamaan ranked second.
The tournament was launched on the sixth of Ramadan with the participation of 18 clubs divided into four groups.
The coronation ceremony was attended by the leadership of the Football Federation Office in Socotra in addition to a number of general managers of executive offices, leaders of sports clubs, sheikhs, dignitaries, social figures and a large crowd of fans.
