Qaiso Electricity without Interruption for Three Years with Support of Khalifa Foundation

Khalifa Foundation works at accelerated rate to provide electricity for all districts and villages across Socotra. The field and engineering team of Dexim Power continues its work in different districts for this purpose. Qaiso village, in the south of Qalansiyah, is one of the villages benefiting from electricity provided by Dexim Power with support of Khalifa Foundation. Electricity in Qaiso has been provided for three years without interruption with commandment of people of Qaiso. Socotra Online reflected responses of people in relation with this service. Sheikh Mohamed Saad Said Al Qaisi, Former Director General of Qalansiyah Directorate, commended the role and effort of Khalifa Foundation in the Socotra Archipelago. He assured that electricity in Qaiso has worked for three years without interruption. He also praised the role of Khalifa Foundation in different fields and requirements in Socotra.

He added that Khalifa Foundation support electricity sector in Qaiso Mando since 2018 and largely contributed to its improvement in spite of the weak overhead lines. He highlighted that Khalifa Foundation was working on replacing the overhead lines with modern underground cables to link the village to Qalansiyah in future.

In this regard, Mr. Ali Mohamed Salem expressed his appreciation to Khalifa Foundation for its leading role in serving the Socotra Archipelago, especially in electricity sector. He highlighted that electricity used to work for 24 hours during the first year and then 12 uninterrupted hours as first phase until connecting cables with Qalansiyah to have 24-hour regular power.

Mr. Mohamed Abdullah Salem assured that Qaiso village was suffering from lack of electricity since decades, but intervention of Khalifa Foundation helped in improvement of electricity service. He added that the people of Qaiso thanked Khalifa Foundation for its support to the Archipelago in general and Qalansiyah in particular, and asked the Foundation to carry out
