Political and sports leaders and notables of the Socotra community praised the success of the Fifth Edition of Sheikh Zayed Football Championship, which concluded its competitions on Friday evening at Sheikh Zayed City 1 Stadium, with Al Helal winning the title after defeating Al Jazira in the final 5/6 in the penalty shootout.
They stressed that the championship has made great contributions to refining the sporting capabilities of young people, occupying their spare time, developing the level of technical clubs, and discovering their football talents.
Socotra Online was present at the closing and introductory ceremony of the championship and reflected feedback of the present leaders about the championship, where the beginning was with the President of the Southern Transitional Council in Socotra, Raafat Al-Theqali, who began his speech by congratulating Al Helal Club, the champion, Al Jazeera, the runner-up and Al Sharq, which ranked third on their achievement and obtaining these advanced positions In the championship, stressing that the championship is of great importance in refining the capabilities of young people, developing them and keeping them greatly. Al-Theqali said that sports produce positive behaviors, good values and high morals, and encouraging young people to play sports is a positive and important matter. From this point of view, we would like to thank the UAE and the Khalifa Foundation in particular for their continuous support to the youth and sports sectors for more than half a decade.
Noting the efforts of the Football Association and its working committees, which made every effort for the success of the championship and its appearance in a manner befitting the name of Zayed, may God have mercy on him, whose love is still beating all over the world.
The President of Al Sharq Club, Osan Jamaan, confirmed that the sports sector in Socotra has received the attention and care of the United Arab Emirates by holding the Sheikh Zayed Championship, which Al Hilal Club won its fifth edition today, thanks to the generous support provided by the Khalifa Foundation.
The Secretary General of Al Hilal Club, Nasser Abdul Rahman, congratulated the victory for his team, which embraced the most valuable championships for the first time, noting the support of the Khalifa Humanitarian Foundation for sporting events in the governorate.
