The Bu Mubarak Volleyball Championship for Clubs in Socotra Governorate achieved a remarkable success in terms of the clubs’ participation, the technical level that appeared in it, and the wonderful public attendance that accompanied it from its launch to the coronation ceremony.
The tournament, which was launched on November 30, with the participation of 18 clubs, was held on a stadium equipped with the Sheikh Zayed Corniche in Hadiboh with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Works.
The championship concluded its competition last Friday evening with a final match between Radfan and Al Wasl, during which the first managed to beat its counterpart in two rounds in a match in which the competition intensified before Radfan decided the match in the tiebreak and won the title.
Socotra Online was present at the closing ceremony of the tournament, during which it monitored the impressions of the political, sports and social leadership on the tournament. The beginning was with Raed Al-Juraibi, the Senior Deputy of the Governorate, who stressed the importance of the tournament and its active role in spreading the game and encouraging young people to practice volleyball constantly, which was one of the most important sports on The level of the world, pointing out that the tournament achieved remarkable success, then the efforts of those in charge of the federation, the support of the Khalifa Foundation and the directives of its general delegate, who bore the name of His Excellency in appreciation of his constant keenness to continue sports activity in the archipelago.
Al-Juraibi congratulated Radfan FC on its victory and crowning the championship, as well as the runners-up Al-Wasl club.
Ahmed Hazoum, Head of the Association Branch in Socotra, said that he was happy today at the conclusion of the Bu Mubarak Volleyball Championship and the coronation of Radfan Club as the champion and Al Wasl runner-up.
He pointed out that the tournament lasted for nearly a month, with the participation of all clubs, and Hazoum congratulated Radfan Club, the championship, and Al Wasl, the runner-up, after the great efforts and level they made during the tournament.
He valued the support packages of the Khalifa Foundation for the sports sector and sponsorship of various sporting events in football, volleyball and ironman, which will be organized next Friday with the participation of all clubs.
Mr. Salem Daheq, Member of the Development Committee, said that we are happy today to attend the coronation ceremony of the Bu Mubarak Volleyball Championship, which was held with the support of the Khalifa Foundation with various sports activities in the governorate that contribute to preserving young people and refining their abilities. On behalf of the Development Committee, Daheq noted the great role of the brothers in the UAE for their sponsorship of the sports sector and their keenness to bring it into a reality that meets the aspirations of young people.
Saleh Ali Mohsen, Secretary-General of the Association Branch, touched on the wonderful and distinguished competition that the tournament witnessed, until it reached the final match today, which brought together Radfan and Al-Wasl and created a wonderful festive atmosphere with a large presence of official authorities as well as by the public, who formed a beautiful board throughout the tournament matches.
Mohsen thanked the UAE and its rulers for their continuous support for Socotra and the sports sector in it, as well as to its general representative in the archipelago for his permanent directives to hold sporting events on an ongoing basis.
The head of the technical committee of the tournament, Salma Kabalan, indicated that the Bu Mubarak volleyball tournament had an active role in revitalizing the volleyball teams in the clubs that stopped during the last period and witnessed a distinguished mass follow-up and created a public outlet for volleyball lovers.
Today, everyone is pleased with the success of the tournament, the level in which it appeared, and the sportsmanship that accompanied the clubs in it, Qabalan added.
Radfan Club President Saleh Yaslam Faris expressed his happiness with his club’s volleyball team reaching the final of a championship and winning the title today, which crowns its efforts and good preparation for the championship. He said that everyone today was very happy with the success of this sporting event, which was supported by the Khalifa Foundation, which sponsors youth and sports activity in the governorate permanently.
