Sheikhs, dignitaries and the people of the areas of Leska and Salmaho in Socotra Governorate valued the humanitarian efforts provided by the United Arab Emirates through its humanitarian arm, the Khalifa Foundation, in implementing water projects in various regions of the island, which had a key role in the stability of its residents and ending their suffering, which continued for a long time in this field.
The sheikhs and the people stressed that the UAE’s giving in Socotra is great, and all the people of Socotra felt in different sectors, including the areas of Leska and Salamho in the water sector and drilling wells.
Sheikh Saleh Doher said that the Khalifa Foundation has worked to drill 4 artesian wells that operate with the solar energy system to pump water to reservoirs designated for water distribution to villages and areas in Leska throughout the year.
He pointed out that the project of drilling wells was one of the projects that the regions needed for a long time before the intervention of the UAE, which worked to make the people happy in overcoming the suffering of water scarcity, which represented one of the problems facing them greatly.
Citizen Saad Ali Saad indicated that, by the efforts of the brothers in the UAE, work has been done to solve the water problem in the Leska areas and its suburbs, and it has become secured for the people from the artesian wells that were dug through the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.
Sheikh Suleiman Noah expressed the great satisfaction that the people of the area felt by delivering water to their area through a large network of pipes extending thousands of meters from the Leska area and a water tank with a capacity of 250 thousand liters. People were suffering from fetching water from far away.
It is worth mentioning that the Khalifa Foundation has worked to drill 48 artesian wells in various regions of the island and has also worked on conducting periodic maintenance for them, in addition to supplying some wells with the solar energy system to operate the necessary pumps for them.
