After the outstanding and continuous efforts by Khalifa Foundation in the Socotra Archipelago in completion of Sheikh Zayed 5 Power Plant –Tolerance Year “Alama” in the western coastline with 4 MW, the new power line would provide 1.5 MW to the people from Alama to Saaloti Daihmed, and the remaining part would be completed by the United Arab Emirates.
During the opening, Sheikh Bin Yaqoob, Head of Tribute Union of the Western Coastline, expressed happiness of himself and people of the area with such power service that they always dreamt of, and it has become true now thanks to President of the United Arab Emirates, His Royal Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the Crown Prince His Royal Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also commended the outstanding effort by Dexam Power and Water Technology Company.
He also highlighted the close relationships of the United Arab Emirates and its people and the Socotra Archipelago. He also expressed gratitude and happiness for the development and infrastructure projects in Socotra, which helped in development and improvement of the Island.
Senior Sheikh Suliman Abdullah Shalolha highlighted importance of electricity and expressed his gratitude and thanks to the United Arab Emirates for such effort.
During opening, engineer Ahmed Adel highlighted that operation of the first phase of Alama Power Plant would provide 1.5 MW to the people of the Western Coastline.
Sheikh Ali Salem, Sheikh of Hafet Muri, thanked the United Arab Emirates for such generous action to the people of the western coastline, as the people expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Khalifa Foundation and the United Arab Emirates for the outstanding effort.
Mr. Ali Faisal Al Basiri, Member at Development Committee, expressed happiness of people of the western coastline for opening the power plant.
