Obaind Khamis Al Sewedi Mosque was opened in Qalansiyah. It was one of the humanitarian projects supported by the United Arab Emirates. Sheikh Suliman Abdullah Shalolha, Senior Sheikh of Socotra; Brig. Saleh Al Mahimi, Leader of Qalasiyah Military battalion; and Sheikh Yahia Moad, Sheikh of Qalansiyah, were present to witness opening of the mosque.
Sheikh Suliman mentioned that opening the mosque indicated the deep relationship between people of Socotra and UAE, as people and leaders of UAE used to implement humanitarian projects in Socotra in all fields.
He asserted that the United Arab Emirates afforded all possible efforts towards people of Socotra to support infrastructure of the Island through service, developmental and humanitarian projects.
Contractor Mazen Saleh mentioned that the mosque was constructed and prepared by the continuous support by the United Arab Emirates through teams of Khalifa Foundation. He highlighted that opening this mosque was within 40 days, and it was one of the mosques to be constructed and rehabilitated for the people of Socotra.
In turn, Brig. Saleh Al Mahimi commended the great effort by Khalifa Foundation in all fields, and expressed gratitude and appreciation to Khalifa Foundation and the United Arab Emirates in serving and helping people of Socotra.
