The sport sector in Socotra witnesses continuous moving forward through the generous support by Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation to carrying out the sport activities which contributed to development of skills of sport individuals and matching their different activities. Efforts of Khalifa Foundation in sport sector during the last decade were various in relation with financing budgets, carrying out qualifying courses for sport individuals, referees and trainers, and other activities, which have been the main factor in development of sport in Archipelago.
Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation contributed to supporting clubs of different districts across Socotra and Abd Kuri Island in addition to holding football championships aiming at spreading the game and encouraging youth to exercise as an important positive attitude to follow.
Ahmed Hazoom, President of Football Association Office in Socotra, asserted in an exclusive statement to Socotra Online that the sport and youth sectors in Socotra had great concern by Khalifa Foundation, which would be considered as the first attention point on the Island.
He also added that the Football Association worked on an annual sport plan with outstanding success, where such competitions are variable with wide participation by sport individuals.
Hazoom mentioned that by this support, the Football Association Office in Socotra could prepare a private team for the Island to participate in championships among clubs across governorates.
It was worth noting that Khalifa Foundation completed development of its plans through management of sport activity to implement group of sport projects to develop a strong sport infrastructure.
