Khalifa Foundation sought to support Socotra in all fields including agriculture, as the Foundation worked on dedicating a team of agricultural engineers and experts to support farmers in Socotra to improve their living standards and income through training and education of method of treatment with trees and controlling pests as well as marketing their products in local market.
The workshop, which was held in assembly hall of Sultan Ali bin Essa bin Afrar, presented all methods of support by Khalifa Foundation to people of Socotra. Engineer Mohamed Hamed highlighted that the Foundation encouraged farmers of Socotra to concern with palms and conducted several campaigns to control palm weevil.
Khalifa Foundation contributed to supporting farmers through provision of pests vaccines, and opened the first dates factory in Socotra, which would help in packaging and purchasing dates from farmers.
The role of Khalifa Foundation was not limited to supporting farmers of palms, but also included all other plants, as Khalifa Foundation opened three model farms to plant vegetables and fruits to provide the local market with such kinds of plants.
Engineer Hamed mentioned that Delisha was considered as the main supplier to the local market with vegetables and fruits. People of Socotra expressed their gratitude and appreciation to Khalifa Foundation for the great support.
