Last Saturday morning, a general meeting was held for the leaders of local authorities and the engineering team of the Khalifa Foundation in addition to a number of sheikhs and legal personalities, during which several service projects implemented for this year in various service and vital sectors such as water, electricity, and health were discussed.
In the meeting, it was agreed on the location of the festival in the governmental complex square for easy access to the people of the city and to be acquainted with the festival closely.
In a statement, Raed Al-Juraibi, Senior Undersecretary of Socotra Governorate, confirmed his happiness with the arrival of the team of engineers to discuss the most important projects and the necessary needs of the Directorate, as well as the establishment of a cultural and artistic festival that would include all the various crafts and arts. He also extending his thanks and appreciation to the Khalifa Foundation for its efforts in supporting the Archipelago.
Mr. Issa Saeed Al-Hakami, General Manager of Qalansiyah, praised the great role played by the Foundation in supporting vital projects in the district, stressing that what was discussed today came within the Foundation’s continuous follow-up in implementing service projects that serve the citizen and meet all his needs. He added that the establishment of the first festival in Qalansiyah would represent a qualitative addition. This is to shed light on the city of Qalansiyah, which is located in the far northwest of the island, expressing his thanks and appreciation for the great humanitarian efforts of the White Hands in supporting the Directorate.
It is noteworthy that the establishment of such annual cultural and artistic festivals in many areas of Socotra had a great impact on showing the Socotra heritage and its transmission from one generation to another and preserving it from extinction.
