Development Committee of Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation held a wide meeting for sheikhs and leaders of Socotra to recognize requirements of people during the following autumn.
During the meeting, in which Mr. Raafat Al Theqali, Head of Transitional Council in Socotra; Members of Development Committee of Khalifa Foundation; Brigadier-General/ Abdullah Ahmed, Commander of First Marine Brigadier; and Sheikh Mubarak bin Qabaln, Head of Public Council of Socotra and Muhra; attended, the attendee discussed importance of taking necessary measures to arrange food and petroleum needs for the following autumn in addition to the health situation in Socotra.
Salem Daheq Ali, Member at Development Committee, highlighted that this was in line with concern of Development Committee with discussing the current situation of the Island that would require interventions and consultations among sheikhs. He also highlighted that Khalifa Foundation always concerned with continuation of carrying out development and relief projects to help people of Socotra and contribute to having better life.
During the meeting, Mr. Raafat Al Theqali, Head of Transitional Council, thanked the Development Committee for the invitation, and highlighted that such meetings would be important for discussing situations in Socotra. He also mentioned that the Transitional Council and Local Authority worked on setting a supply plan for the following autumn.
In turn, Sheikh Mubarak Ali Qablan, Head of Public Council of Socotra and Muhra, called for importance of community cohesion and maintenance of stability in Socotra. He also thanked UAE for the continuous support to people of Socotra through its humanitarian hands (Khalifa Foundation and Emirates Red Crescent), which helped in stability of life in Socotra.
