Dr. Ahmed Khalaf, Director of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Hospital, highlighted that the hospital provided 700,000 medical services to people of Socotra including examination, x-ray services and tests during the last three years, including 270,000 services last year.
During the workshop organized by Development Committee at Khalifa Foundation, with presence of official and community individuals, he mentioned that number of construction and development projects were launched in the hospital including construction of 23 specialized outpatients and dialysis center as well as provision of new devices and equipment. It was worth noting that the dialysis unit conducted 700 dialysis session, which contributed to ending suffer of patients who had to travel for a long distance.
He also added that the cardiology department was launched and the laboratory capacity was promoted with a percentage 233% to increase number of tests to 15 initial tests and 55 tests as well as promotion of operations department.
In relation with qualification of medical and technical staff, he asserted that the hospital included 257 medical and technical staff members including 80% of people of Socotra. They were trained on different programs such as first aid.
He also mentioned that the hospital concerned with provision of a mobile medical clinic to move across Socotra to help people who could not come to the hospital.
Participants in the workshop organized by Khalifa Foundation commended achievements of Sheikh Khalifa Hospital during the last period in improvement of medical and health services as well as construction and expansion projects.
It was worth noting that Sheikh Khalifa Hospital was established in the capital Hadiboh in December 2012 of one floor with an area of 1,420m2 including 4 wings and 40 beds. It witnessed several expansion and construction projects to promote its capacity.
