Leaders and Sheikhs of Qalansiyah District praise Humanitarian Efforts of Khalifa Foundation in establishing a Water Desalination Plant

The leaders, sheikhs and sons of the Qalansiyah and Abdul-Kuri Districts praised the efforts of the brothers in the United Arab Emirates in supporting the Directorate and their interest in the rapid response in establishing and operating the water desalination plant, which provided the Directorate’s need for potable water and ended their previous problem.

Socotra Online was present to reflect feedback of leaders and sheikhs of the districts on the project, and the beginning was with Major Imad Al Kathiri, Police Director, who said that the opening of the desalination plant and the pumping of drinking water for the population was a great achievement after the suffering that the directorate’s residents faced with salty water not suitable for drinking.

He pointed out that the intervention of the Khalifa Foundation to support the water sector, which was one of the most important basic services related to the life of the population, and which constituted a great societal satisfaction at the level of Qalansiyah in this aspect.

Al Kathiri expressed his thanks to those in charge of the Khalifa Foundation for their interest and continuous follow-up to the requirements of the Socotri citizen.

Sheikh Mubarak Salem, identifier of Qalansiyah, confirmed that the Khalifa Foundation support by provision of equipment and operation of the water desalination plant was one of the most prominent efforts that touched the needs of people in Qalansiyah. He appreciated the brothers’ constant keenness to provide the necessary services to the people of Socotra and the city of Qalansiyah in particular.

Sheikh Saad, the Sheikh of the Ma’aleh tribes, indicated that the efforts of the Khalifa Foundation were not limited to its support for the water sector only, but also included various service and humanitarian aspects.

The opening of the desalination plant for the residents of the city of Qalansiyah was an end to the long suffering of the people who have suffered greatly from the thorny water problem.

The Sheikh of Ma’aleh tribes commended all the endeavors and efforts made by the Khalifa Foundation to improve water service and end the suffering of the people.

The water desalination plant project was inaugurated in Qalansiyah district early this week after it was equipped with the support of the Khalifa Foundation, as it would produce 280,000 liters per day and would pump it to the city.
