Under the slogan “Safe and Developed Week,” the Arab Traffic Week activities were launched, which targeted the entrances and exits of the capital, Hadiboh, during which a number of awareness posters were distributed to citizens, cars and motorcycles.
At the inauguration, which was attended by a number of security leaders, Saleh Ali, the governorate Deputy, stressed the importance of the traffic man’s role in the pursuit of citizen safety and the application of compliance with traffic rules and regulations that contribute to reducing traffic accidents and preserving the lives of pedestrians.
He pointed out that the local authority pays special attention to this aspect in addition to its full readiness to provide all aspects of support and assistance to improve the level of traffic performance, regulate traffic and raise safety and security guarantees for the Socotra citizen.
Nazim Qabalan, the Vice-President of the Transitional Council in Socotra, called for raising the level of awareness of traffic rules among all road users, including motorists and pedestrians, and promoting traffic culture among various segments of society.
Lt. Col. Mubarak Suleiman Qabalan, the Director of Traffic Police, explained that the activities of the Arab Traffic Week, which would continue during the period from 4 to 10 of this month, and which include awareness campaigns aimed at spreading traffic awareness among the community, stressing the individuals and officers of the traffic police to control violators of traffic rules to preserve safety of citizens.
Bin Qabalan indicated that this annual occasion is an incentive for everyone to create a comprehensive awareness to lay the foundations for traffic safety and to establish the etiquette and rules of traffic in daily life.
