In extent of new sport support to Socotra Island, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation organized the 4th ironman competition for clubs of Socotra. The audience in Socotra were waiting for this sport event to recognize the champions of this competition, which has become a globally common sport.
The competition, in which 41 individuals from different sport clubs across the Socotra Archipelago participated, would start with 300m swimming and 3km marathon to Prime Fish Factory and 7km bike cycling to the Late Saad Ali Salemin Playground in Hadiboh.
Captain Ismail Al Junaibi, Sport Official at Khalifa Foundation, highlighted that the competition was in line with the concern of Khalifa Foundation with continuation of sport activities and concern with youth and sportsmen.
He also added that a competition specific committee was formed, and the necessary preparation for the launch of the competition completed after meeting with club leaders, who expressed their readiness for participation.
