The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has enhanced the production capacity of the Daxem Water Project and expanded its services to include new areas that are more in need of potable water.
The new expansion of the project came with the drilling of a new well in the Zarej area, which serves to feed the needs of 9 villages with potable water.
The engineering team of the project continues with accelerated efforts in laying the pumping pipes from the well to the tanks to reach the pipelines for the targeted villages, which are carried out in accordance with international and modern specifications, as the project works on the solar energy system.
Socotra Online lenses had a role in conveying some opinions, as Sheikh Muhammad Salem Al-Kibani spoke, who stressed that the Daxem villages water project is of great importance to its residents, who suffered greatly in previous periods from the lack of water sources, and the establishment of this huge project, which represents a dream for the people of the region and who works as their long suffering in this aspect.
He pointed out that the project worked on digging wells in the Sarhan and Zarej areas, building 5 large tanks and distributing them to villages with pressure lines to reach each family with ease.
Sheikh Al Kibani extended his thanks and gratitude to the United Arab Emirates and the Khalifa Foundation for implementing such vital and service projects on the island’s level.
Citizen Muhammad Abdullah Muhammad said that the people of Daxem are pleased with the completion of this important water project and the positive impact that this service provided on societal stability and restoring hope for all after long decades of hardship and suffering.
Citizen Abdullah valued the positions of the UAE and its humanitarian and developmental role for the island and the Dixim regions in particular, which had a pivotal role in that it is the biggest dilemma they face, which is water.
It is noteworthy that the Daxum areas, which are located in the mountainous heights, depended in the past on storing rainwater in ground tanks to be used during the year.
The Khalifa Foundation team has also worked over the past years to make efforts to alleviate the suffering of the people during the drought period by providing tankers to transport water to the areas most in need.
