Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation opened Awra power project in the suburbs of the capital Hadiboh today.
The project, which was implemented by Dexim Power, was opened after completion of underground cables extension from Sheikh Zayed Station 1 “Year of Tolerance” within the efforts of Khalifa Foundation to connect power network to different areas in Socotra.
Ahmed Adel, Engineer in Dexim Power, said that the project included installation of 250-KVA electrical transformer, 650-ampere main pillar and three secondary pillars of 250 ampere of each in addition to fully equipped underground network, installation of high voltage and low voltage cables and meters. He indicated that the project aims at meeting power needs of the residents with a plan to expand the network through pillars meeting the current needs and future urban expansion.
Abdellatif Mubarak, one of the residents, said that this day is memorable to Awra, which has been considered as a disadvantaged area with deficit of such necessary service. He expressed his thanks to Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for its efforts and concern with providing the residents of Socotra with the essential services.
