Yesterday, Socotra Governorate inaugurated the first farm of Bashayer Model Farms in the Steroh, Nujed District, South of the island.
Iyad Ali Abdellah, Agricultural Engineer, explained that the farm bears the name Bashayer 1, and work is currently underway to establish a drip irrigation network for the farm.
Eng. Abdullah indicated that the farm would grow various types of vegetables and fruits, in addition to establishing nurseries that enhance the agricultural aspect in the areas of Nujed.
Abdellah stressed that the Bashayer model farms would be established in all areas of the island to support farmers with seedlings of vegetables and fruits and to enhance the model farm model in all areas of the island.
Bashayer farms contribute to encouraging the Socotri community to agriculture and taking care of this aspect, ensuring that its requirements of vegetables and fruits are secured and improving the level of healthy food for Socotri families.
