The seven-a-side football tournament and volleyball tournament in the Governorate kicked off at the stadium of the deceased Saad Ali Salmeen in Socotra Governorate.

The launching activities of the two championships, organized by the Football Association branch with the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, witnessed a large official, sports and public presence that reflected the importance of Ramadan sports activity for the people of Socotra and their great love for sports.

In the opening of the two tournaments, which was attended by Sultan Ali bin Issa bin Afrar, the Chairman of the Development Committee, today, Al Jamhour club with Al Ain and Al Wasl played with Al Wasl Al Sahel in the first group competitions of the two championships, during which the public managed to overtake Al Ain with two clean goals in the first match, while Al Sahel Al Wasl defeated Al Wasl by three clean points in the first match. In the Archipelago volleyball tournament, Al-Jawmah and Al-Wasl won two rounds, free of charge, over Al-Ain and Al-Najm Al-Saheli, respectively.

Nazim bin Qabalan, the Senior Vice-President of the Southern Transitional Council, praised the level of equipment witnessed by the two tournaments and the interest of the federation branch to bring out the two tournaments in an honorable and beautiful way, which reflects the passion of Socotra athletes for such wonderful competitions.

He valued the support of the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for the sports sector in Socotra by organizing such sports tournaments that have contributions to preserving young people, refining their souls and refining their abilities for the better. He extended his thanks to the Khalifa Foundation and its interest in the youth and youth sector.

For his part, Ahmed Hazoum, the President of the Football Association branch, explained that the two tournaments will continue for 20 days of this holy month, and their organization comes within the annual plan of the branch and with the support of the brothers in the UAE represented by the Khalifa Foundation.

He pointed out that the Emirati efforts to support the sports sector on the island are great and have been going on for years and have worked to change the reality of sport for the better.

The opening of the tournament was attended by Brigadier General Ali Al-Dixami, the Director General of Police, Brigadier General Mohsen Al-Hajj, the staff of the 1st Marine Brigade, sports, security and military leaders, and a large number of sports fans.
