The Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation has implemented a project to rehabilitate the mesh fence of the port of Holaf in Socotra Governorate.

An official source said that the project comes within the Khalifa Foundation’s interest and keenness to preserve the activity of the commercial port as it is the island’s only sea port and through it receives its various life requirements.

The source added that the port fence project had previously been implemented by the Khalifa Foundation in the last period as part of the development and expansion projects that the port witnessed and was inaugurated in 2018.

For his part, Muhammad Salem Al-Salhi, Director General of the Port, explained that the rehabilitation of the port’s fence was of great importance in securing and preserving the incoming goods and contributed to assisting the security services in controlling, as it prevented livestock from entering the port’s yard and berths and secured ships and vessels with them.

He pointed out that the fence project included the area of the port from the berths to the main gate with a 3-meter-high, moisture-resistant mesh fence for the ports.

Al-Salamhi thanked the brothers in the United Arab Emirates for their permanent support through implementation of development projects, which had the effect of raising the level of commercial activity of the port, which represented the island’s supply artery.
